What are snap-on dentures?
Snap-On Dentures are similar to traditional dentures, but with one incredible advantage: they stay in place using dental implants. Unlike conventional dentures that rest on the gum line and often require adhesive creams to stay on, snap-on (or snap-in) dentures snap into place. This means the snap-on dentures are removable, but more securely fastened to your jaw.
What to expect during the procedure?
The first step in any dental procedure is to talk to a specialist like Dr. Vinit Joshi, Dr. Angeli Kapoor or one of our highly skilled team members to see if you are a good candidate for Snap-On Dentures or other tooth loss solutions.
Once you are ready, our experienced team performs a procedure in which dental posts are placed in your gums. Your dentures are then fitted to the posts so that they can sit comfortably. It is common to have your implants placed and buried under the gum for 3-6 months while the integration process is completed. Once that process is completed , you would then have another minor procedure called the uncovery process. We uncover the now integrated implants, add what’s called an abutment to the implants so you can now secure your denture in place.
Who needs snap-on dentures?
Snap-On Dentures are a revolutionary solution for many denture users. Whether you are in need of full upper or lower dentures or have a partial denture, this system could help solve the disadvantages of conventional dentures.
- Specifically, this system is designed for those who have any of the following:
- Full upper, full lower, or partial dentures
- Patience with denture adhesion issues
- Patients with discomfort while using their dentures
- Patients looking for an alternative to full-size denture procedures
- Patients without enough bone to allow for full-size implants
What are the benefits of snap-on dentures?
Many of our patients come to us because they have been struggling with eating, speaking, and simply enjoying their life because of the discomfort and complications of wearing dentures. Instead, Snap-On dentures offer an alternative that is more stable and secure. These implant-supported dentures also provide a way to retain bone mass in the jaw whereas traditional dentures can cause weakening or loss of the jaw bone.
Once your Snap-On denture procedure is complete, patients will quickly notice how much easier and more comfortable it is to bite and eat food. Traditional dentures decrease the amount of pressure that the jawbone is meant to exert in normal chewing, which means those with dentures will have to adjust their diets. Eliminate the need to stick with soft foods and enjoy a regular diet with dentures that are fully integrated into the biting motion of your mouth.
You may also notice an improvement in the way you speak because you won’t have to adjust your speaking pattern to slippage or movement of your dentures. You won’t need to fear them falling out mid-sentence or stop yourself from smiling fully. Give yourself the joy of a comfortable smile and speak to our experts at Global Implant Dentistry in Tustin.
