How Does Sedation Work?
How we perform sedation dentistry at our practice may be different, depending on your level of worry, the procedure or surgery itself, and the type of sedation provided.
Nitrous oxide sedation, often called laughing gas, gives moderate, sedative sensations. Nitrous oxide is passed through a small nasal hood, helping you to feel more at ease throughout your visit.
Halcion, a member of the Valium drug family, is light sedation administered orally in pill form. The medication is consumed by mouth one hour before your visit for minimal to moderate relaxation.
Intravenous sedation provides moderate sedation, infused through the veins with a more thorough dose of tranquilizer. Even though IV sedation enables you to stay aware, you will typically feel as if you have napped throughout your visit.
Regional anesthesia is directed into the needed area to desensitize the teeth, gumline, and nervous tissues and can be integrated with other personalized approaches.
General anesthesia can also be utilized in our procedures to provide a deeper level of relaxation, inducing a sleep-like state of unconsciousness. An anesthesiologist is available for general anesthesia sedation.

I've been to quite a few dental offices in my time, but none compare to Global Implant Dentistry! I came in to have my top left side checked out- ended up needing to have 2 implants with a sinus lift to fix an over due problem I ignored. Dr Joshi also recommended IV Sedation to make sure I was comfortable during this procedure. His staff explained in great detail how everything was going to go and scheduled the surgery the very next week. They even went the extra mile to ensure my safety to contact my primary physician for a medical release and called everything I needed to take before my surgery into my pharmacy. The day after the procedure, Dr Joshi called me to check how I was feeling- unbelievable! I told him. I was in very little discomfort and was able to get back to work right away. However- that's not what got me. How many Dr's do u know that call the patient after surgery? NONE!!! Normally they have their assistant/ front desk do that. It's Dr Joshi's continuous great bedside manner and professionalism that won me over. Thank you for a great dental pain free experience Dr Joshi- you have got a patient for life.
